Friends, we all must of heard and worn the term UNIFORM right from our nursery days, right? But how many of us knows the real purpose of its invention or ideology behind its implementation. Well let me try though not with full perfection but few basics.
You know, Fashion is the worlds nastiest polluters, second only to oil. The rich wear high cost clothing to show off their affluency and high life, depleting the lower classes of their innate power. High fashion clothing creates an invisible wall between high and lower classes, leaving the lower one’s with emotional complexes about their bodies. Invention of standardize uniforms was to eliminate this barrier between rich and poor and alleviate many of these problems.
Earlier lot attempts to standardize a dress code across an entire culture failed. In 1916, US home economist Helen Louise Johnson proposed a Standardized Dress — as chronicled by Linda Przybyszewski in The Lost Art of Dress. Johnson was melodramatic about her quest: “Our purpose,” she said, “is nothing less than a freedom from a kind of slavery.” Thus, encouraging a thought ‘Individuals would finally be remembered for their faces and ideas, rather than their costly floral prints’.
Kindly leave your comments on the purpose and Ideology behind the invention of Uniforms in the comments section. Will write more on Uniforms in my coming articles.
